Meet The Owner Charles Smith

Charles A. Smith started CAS Driving School in January 2007 in order to better prepare DC residents for the joys and challenges of driving.

Mr. Smith began his career as a licensed driver instructor in 1981. In 1986 he was hired as a road test examiner for the DC Department of Motor Vehicles, where he worked for 20 years administering the road skills test. Upon retiring in January 2007, he opened CAS Driving School. He enjoys seeing people come from fear to confidence when learning to driving.

CAS Driving School Mission

For more than 30 years we have been helping people of all ages learn to drive. Whether you're a first time teen or adult learner or need to renew an expired license, we can help you get on the road! At CAS Driving School, we are committed to helping our students become responsible defensive drivers who are fully prepared to keep our roadways safe.
  • To provide professional, informed, and comfortable instruction that turns new or inexperienced drivers into safe, collision-free, and confident drivers.
  • To create a fun environment for instructors and students that fosters valuable learning and hands-on experience.
  • To teach our students to take the consequences of their actions seriously and respect the road.
  • To inform previous drivers with mediocre driving skills of the best defensive driving skills that will keep them free of collisions and tickets for life.
