FAQ's

What do I need to start lessons?

  • What do I need to start lessons?

Students must have a valid learners permit or driver’s license for behind the wheel instruction.

Please refer to the DC DMV website for requirements of the road test: DC DMV

Once you have your learner’s permit, you can schedule an appointment for Driving Instruction on our schedule page or by calling us at (202) 636-1049. The two hour road test preparation course includes instruction, with pickup and drop off from a Metro station or the DC address you provide when making your appointment.

Feel free to call us at (202) 636-1049 if this is an urgent matter and you have a test scheduled in the near future.

  • How do I schedule an appointment?

Go to the schedule page to schedule an appointment and pay online or call us at (202) 636-1049 to schedule an appointment over the phone.

  • How long should I schedule a lesson for?

At your first driving lesson, your instructor can give you an idea of how many lessons you might need. Because every new driver is different, we don’t have set course packages.

Whenever you’re ready, go to the schedule page of our website for your introductory driving lesson. Please make sure to sign up for 2 one-hour sessions no more than 2 days apart. This is to ensure that your next lesson is not delayed and that you retain the information taught in the first session. After your first two sessions, you may choose to schedule 1-hour or 2-hour appointments.

Since driving instruction includes pickup and drop off, this is the address (home, school, work, etc.) or location (like a Metro station or other landmark) where you would like the instructor to pick you up. There is no additional charge for drop-off or pick up.

  • Where do lessons take place?

All of the instruction provided by CAS Driving School is conducted behind the wheel in the District of Columbia. (The DC DMV does not require classroom instruction, although this may be changing soon.)

  • Are you licensed and bonded?

Yes, absolutely! CAS Driving School is licensed, insured and bonded in the District of Columbia.

  • What kind of cars do you have?

The school uses 4-door Toyota Corollas that are dual-control equipped.

  • What do I need for the DC Road test?

In DC, the road test is administered solely by the DC Department of Motor Vehicles.

When we pick you up, we verify your readiness for the road test and give you a few additional pointers to help ensure your test goes well. If you think you may need more practice before taking your test, please schedule an appointment for road test preparation prior to scheduling your road test with the DC DMV.
